Colin Patrick McCabe commented on HADOOP-10530:
-----------------------------------------------

[[email protected]], thanks for your hard work on this. This was a big task
and you took it on.

I think we need better monitoring and tracking for our jenkins builds in
general. I'm not sure what form that would take. Wiki page with the full set?
Git repo where the scripts jenkins runs and the configurations live? The
current situation is messy and I think how particular Jenkins builds work is
tribal knowledge.... or maybe even knowledge that only one or two people have.
If they're broken, you can't even file an INFRA jira, because infra will tell
you it's managed by the project (which is absolutely true). But you can't
exactly file an HDFS or Hadoop jira either. It lives in a "between space," not
even under source control.

bq. There's also the fact that the output handling of the different precommits
vary. Why do some builds end up with a ../patchprocess dir, when others do not
-and pasting in the mv command fails?

I think every build "should" generate patchprocess, and if any don't it's a
bug... but I am not an expert on this.

> Make hadoop trunk build on Java7+ only
