the protoc plugin only lists the output of protoc at debug level, so if
something doesn't compile you need to rebuild at -X. Which works by hand, but
not it something like Jenkins is at work. All you get to see then is {{[ERROR]
protoc compiler error}}.
If the output was logged at INFO, debugging protoc failures would be much easier
