Hi [~chris.douglas], thanks for your thoughtful suggestions. We will definitely
follow community release convention next time. For current OSS support backport
item, we discussed and synced with Aliyun OSS team. For Hadoop 2.7, Aliyun OSS
team would like to provide independent patch for users who are using 2.7 and
interested in OSS. For Hadoop 2.8 and 2.9, we prefer the OSS support go into
the upstream and be part of the Hadoop release, to benefit boarder users. From
the implementation wide, OSS support in 2.8 and 2.9 will share the same code
with current main trunk, and also depends on the same version HttpClient. No
httpclient version conflict issue any more. With the same code, same
HttpClient dependency, and also it's a self contained module, the quality of
Aliyun OSS module in 2.8 and 2.9 will be just as good as the one in the main
trunk. I hope this design can help address the concerns people might have for
the feature.
