Patch 001; the diff from s3guard+doc review against trunk. I expect this to
show up some issues
This is a chance to review all findbugs/checkstyle/javadoc issues which have
accrued over the year and see if they can be cleaned up. I'm not going to worry
about line length, be a bit more lax about things in tests than production.
