Hi Manoj,

I like the proposal on HADOOP-14136, I think it's basically what Eli was 
referencing on HADOOP-8299. Agree that it can subsume this JIRA, it seems like 
the configuration changes here plus fallback support would work well for a lot 
of usecases.

Of course we also need to document all of this carefully :)
