Review Comment:
   I got your point but that is not the standard usage either and cannot work. 
The internal implementation is based on Long.compare
   ```
     public static int compare(long x, long y) {
           return (x < y) ? -1 : ((x == y) ? 0 : 1);
       }
   ```
   which is not returning the real diff.
