When generating metrics names, some names on Spring Boot are different. See e.g. the test that was aligned as part of Quarkus upgrade work here (1). Based on investigation of @pefernan, Quarkus uses a simple client library and Spring Boot not. The libraries handle differently the suffixes for some types of metrics (counters vs gauges behave differently). The simple client is deprecated, so it is expected that Quarkus will stop using it in the future. So with some future upgrade, the behaviour may automatically unify again. Purpose of this issue is to either verify this behaviour after some future Quarkus upgrade or try to unify the naming.
