Thanks for the reviews. Pushed ea24dfb47ba1 addressing @davsclaus's feedback: - `readCommitted`: confirmed that `assign(emptyList)` followed by `poll()` throws `IllegalStateException` with kafka-clients 4.3.1. The topic wait now allows 10s when nothing is expected, uses `pollInSameThread()`, and returns early when the topic was never created. - `onlyKafkaPathIsACopy`: now also waits for the copy's `ClaimRejectedException` (or the commit) before reading, so a copy committing its own transaction would be visible instead of racing with the read. `sedaIsTheOnlyPathToKafka` still takes ~2s.
