@gnodet FYI, #27434 addresses the same ticket (I filed CAMEL-25351 yesterday and opened this one at 09:36). Both detach first, drain with `shutdownGraceful` and stop the processor afterwards. This one also covers a stop that runs on a thread of the consumer's own pool, as a route policy does when an exchange completes (`RoutePolicySupport.stopConsumer`, used by `ThrottlingInflightRoutePolicy` and `ThrottlingExceptionRoutePolicy`). With `shutdownGraceful` alone that stop waits for its own pool until `shutdownAwaitTermination` and then drops the queued items anyway; `testStopFromTheRouteDoesNotWaitForItself` covers it (it fails without the own-pool branch). It also adds the upgrade-guide note for the longer stop.
