I agree, absolutely. It feels like a workaround and there are far too many adapter-wrapper-propagation things here for me to really understand what's going on. In only made this PR because you asked me to do so you can better give feedback. I've seen this problem on release 4.8.1, I haven't tried with 4.9.0-SNAPSHOT, because I shied away from building the whole thing. Should I try with 4.9.0? I've been running my "test" with `mvn spring:boot run`.
