Yes, this is some known problem on Kubernetes, see the discussion thread [1]. If you want to use an insecure registry, it seems that the only way is to configure your Kubernetes cluster to be allowed to do so [2]. I guess that it would be better to make an effort and try to configure a secure registry and avoid all those workarounds though.
