I'm not sure we're understanding each other completely... probably my fault:-) I certainly don't see a point in putting a version on the website with each change, but it might make sense to put a version on the ui whenever it changes. If that's hard to detect currently I'd consider moving the ui to a dedicated repo. So far this versioning scheme is only in use for for the asciidoctor docs website ui, which is only used for that site.
