# Camel-Kafka-connector SSH Source

This is an example for Camel-Kafka-connector SSH Source

## Standalone

### What is needed

- An SSH server

### Setting up an SSH server

We'll use a docker image for this purpose. Any docker image with ssh enabled
should be ok.

```
> docker run -d -P --name test_sshd rastasheep/ubuntu-sshd:14.04
d77dfccf3a5fe96dfa04b48a359edf572953b1b2086cab498ea7d52830eca5ee
```

Now we need to check where the port 22 has been exposed into the host

```
> docker port test_sshd 22
0.0.0.0:32768
```

So we'll point to localhost and port 32768

### Running Kafka

```
$KAFKA_HOME/bin/zookeeper-server-start.sh
$KAFKA_HOME/config/zookeeper.properties
$KAFKA_HOME/bin/kafka-server-start.sh $KAFKA_HOME/config/server.properties
$KAFKA_HOME/bin/kafka-topics.sh --create --bootstrap-server localhost:9092
--replication-factor 1 --partitions 1 --topic mytopic
```

### Setting up the needed bits and running the example

You'll need to setup the plugin.path property in your kafka

Open the `$KAFKA_HOME/config/connect-standalone.properties`

and set the `plugin.path` property to your choosen location

You'll need to build your connector starting from an archetype:

```
> mvn archetype:generate
-DarchetypeGroupId=org.apache.camel.kafkaconnector.archetypes
-DarchetypeArtifactId=camel-kafka-connector-extensible-archetype
-DarchetypeVersion=0.6.0
> cd /home/workspace/miscellanea/ssh-extended
```

We'll need to add a little transform for this example. So import the
ftp-extended project in your IDE and create a class in the only package there

```
package org.apache.camel.kafkaconnector;
import java.util.Map;
import org.apache.camel.kafkaconnector.utils.SchemaHelper;
import org.apache.kafka.common.config.ConfigDef;
import org.apache.kafka.connect.connector.ConnectRecord;
import org.apache.kafka.connect.transforms.Transformation;
import org.slf4j.Logger;
import org.slf4j.LoggerFactory;
public class SshTransforms <R extends ConnectRecord<R>> implements
Transformation<R> {
    public static final String FIELD_KEY_CONFIG = "key";
    public static final ConfigDef CONFIG_DEF = new ConfigDef()
            .define(FIELD_KEY_CONFIG, ConfigDef.Type.STRING, null,
ConfigDef.Importance.MEDIUM,
                    "Transforms String-based content from Kafka into a map");
    private static final Logger LOG = LoggerFactory.getLogger(Pippo.class);
    @Override
    public R apply(R r) {
        Object value = r.value();
        if (r.value() instanceof ByteArrayInputStream) {
            LOG.debug("Converting record from Ssh Body Result to text");
            ByteArrayInputStream message = (ByteArrayInputStream) r.value();
            String m = null;
                       try {
                               m = IOUtils.toString(message,
Charset.defaultCharset());
                       } catch (IOException e) {
                               e.printStackTrace();
                       }
            return r.newRecord(r.topic(), r.kafkaPartition(), null, r.key(),
                       SchemaHelper.buildSchemaBuilderForType(m), m,
r.timestamp());
        } else {
            LOG.debug("Unexpected message type: {}", r.value().getClass());
            return r;
        }
    }
    @Override
    public ConfigDef config() {
        return CONFIG_DEF;
    }
    @Override
    public void close() {
    }
    @Override
    public void configure(Map<String, ?> map) {
    }
}
```

Now we need to build the connector:

```
> mvn clean package
```

In this example we'll use `/home/oscerd/connectors/` as plugin.path, but we'll
need the generated zip from the previois build

```
> cd /home/oscerd/connectors/
> cp
/home/workspace/miscellanea/ftps-extended/target/ssh-extended-0.6.0-package.zip
.
> unzip ssh-extended-0.6.0-package.zip
```

Now it's time to setup the connectors

Open the SSH source configuration file

```
name=CamelSshSourceConnector
connector.class=org.apache.camel.kafkaconnector.ssh.CamelSshSourceConnector
key.converter=org.apache.kafka.connect.storage.StringConverter
transforms=SshTransformer
transforms.SshTransformer.type=org.apache.camel.kafkaconnector.SshTransforms
topics=mytopic
camel.source.path.host=localhost
camel.source.path.port=32768
camel.source.endpoint.delay=10000
camel.source.endpoint.username=root
camel.source.endpoint.password=root
camel.source.endpoint.pollCommand=date
```

Now you can run the example

```
$KAFKA_HOME/bin/connect-standalone.sh
$KAFKA_HOME/config/connect-standalone.properties
config/CamelSshSourceConnector.properties
```

In another terminal, using kafkacat, you should be able to see the headers.

```
>  kafkacat -b localhost:9092 -t mytopic -f 'Topic %t[%p], offset: %o, key:
%k, payload: %s \n'
{"schema":{"type":"string","optional":false},"payload":"Wed Nov 25 12:32:42
UTC 2020\n"}
% Reached end of topic mytopic [0] at offset 1
```
