Looks like you have the wrong syntax, is there a bug in the documentation?
One other handy way to debug socket issues is with the debug mask of 64
(see the beginning of collectl for all the various values). Anyhow, here's
how to listen on port 1234:
mjs@blkjak:~/racks/2.0$ collectl -Aserver:1234 -d64
Server socket opened on port 1234
waiting for 1 second sample...
Looking for connection...
Looking for connection...
Looking for connection...
Socket 'can read'
Looking for connection...
Looking for connection...
and I made the connection like this:
mjs@blkjak:~/racks/300$ /usr/share/collectl/util/client.pl localhost:1234
Socket opened on localhost:1234
27 26 1470 3535 200 15 0 0 0 0 0
0
28 26 1567 5444 0 0 32 2 0 0 0
0
