Hi Rakesh,

Just some notes:

1) I believe I have not contended the three phases that you mentioned
for a CMS implementation but the derivates phases as stated by Marnix.

>While there can be some deviations here and there, I do over all agree
with
>the above approach. One may not require to carryout all the activities,
>depending on the scope of the CMS, but for medium to large
implementation
>this definitely sounds valid.

2) I agree too but with one reservation. It seams the overall rationale
of the three phases as discussed in the whitepaper follow the Waterfall
model which as we know is not really that efficient, particularly in
medium to complex CMS implementations. I usually use a Mix of Feature
Driven Development (Peter Coad) method with XP or DSDM (let's say FDD
adds the discipline that XP requires).

3) White paper - Note that archetypes can substantially change the
semantics of a particular description. So basically I believe that the
Unified Process is just a naming convention, this to say that after all
people do not implement a CMS as one would "implement" a Bridge (Unified
Process do not exist IMO or if it those is just a naming convention
(hardly a pattern factory)).

So basically I use those three stages too when applicable. Also I used
to apply resources (now I'm flying solo) to it, from resources I would
have man/hour estimates and from that implementation cost estimate.

FDD follows an interesting approach to software development (not bridges
like a RUP also wants to capture), Design by Feature/Build By Feature.
Basically each "feature" implementation/configuration can intertwine the
three phases that you have mentioned. It does not matter if it's Content
Development, Content Production or Content Delivery, what is important
is the required "features" that are driven by the Content Model Domain
(What are you managing?). This is an effective approach for me because
after one or two meetings I cannot honestly calculate how much time will
one have to spend on Content Development (I believe no one can
especially non technical persons for medium to complex projects at least
without a separated analysis phase), Content Production setup or Content
Delivery.

I also would like to ear from others so I can also improve my processes
and learn.

PS: Thanks, the whitepaper is very interesting. I'll add it to my lib.
