as I said in my original mail, I'm running the most recent release
available for download, which is CMake 2.4.6 at the moment. I tried the
setting you recommended, and it works as it should, but probably the
documentation shipped with the binary release is slightly out of date.
I just checked the file doc/cmake-2.4/cmake.html in
http://www.cmake.org/files/v2.4/cmake-2.4.6-Darwin-universal.tar.gz
and it correctly documents CLEAN_DIRECT_OUTPUT. Are you referring to some
other package? If so, you should check it; if it is erroneous, take it up
with the package maintainer. Otherwise, perhaps you had an installation
problem, on top of an older CMake or something?
Thomas, if you are running cmake from the command line, you can access the
documentation using "cmake --help-full". I just checked, and that
also documents CLEAN_DIRECT_OUTPUT for 2.4.6. Finally,
http://www.cmake.org/HTML/Documentation.html also documents
CLEAN_DIRECT_OUTPUT.
