Vim uses an embedded nailgun server.
As for the code problem: modify the send-and-eval functions of your
environments to also include the source code in a meta tag. So the dev env
would basically send and eval: (defn ^{:source "(defn foo ...)"} foo [] ..)
Instead of just the defn form itself. That way you could inspect the source
with (:source (meta #'foo)).
