Clojure data structures can be printed to a string, and the string can
be read back in as a data structure.

{:key1 "string", :key2 #{"set" "strings" "of"}}
user> (def b (str a))
#'user/b
user> b
"{:key1 \"string\", :key2 #{\"set\" \"strings\" \"of\"}}"
user> (def c (read-string b))
#'user/c
user> c
{:key1 "string", :key2 #{"set" "strings" "of"}}

true
