Dear List,
I applied the patch and it is working now. But, I am getting one
error which I feel I can ignore, because, on this system, my aim is to
get the signatures only.
Actually, I compile the source on another system with following
configure options.
./configure --disable-clamav --prefix=/usr/local/clamav --disable-shared
and copy only the freshclam binary to another system which I use for
downloading the signature files.

Try applying that patch, rebuild clamav, and see if it works.
