Quite a while back I added some debugging and codebase-exploration tools to help observe and track posted-tasks as they are processed (from where? to what thread? how long? etc.).
I just landed one more piece of support for tracking posted-Tasks, and (* finally!!!*) added documentation in the developer area for Chromium. The documentation can be found at http://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/developers/threaded-task-tracking. I also added a link to it from the standard developer page http://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/developers/ in the "Development Tips and Tricks" section. The internal URL is now *about:tasks* (which replaces about:objects). If you're curious about what was added, search for: about:tasks/reset on the above documentation page. Hopefully folks will find the tools and documentation useful. If the (minimal) documentation is still confusing, or there are other things that need to be described, please drop me a line.
