joerg added a comment. Right, I'm not aware of anyone but FreeBSD really using the OSABI field. For FreeBSD it was a long standing hack around limitations in the ELF kernel loader. I'm not even sure if FreeBSD use(d) to set the OSABI field for the intermediate object files.
