I don't use MySQL regularly enough to have run into this problem, so I
don't know if it's still the case. But I'd recommend trying the stock
drivers to see if they work for you before replacing anything. If they
don't, I'd try MySQL's own drivers before trying any others:

You'll just drop the JAR file into the same directory where all the
other JAR files are, then choose "Other" and configure your JDBC
settings appropriately:
