cdrskin only works on Linux but cdrecord works on more than 30 different 
platforms and cdrecord supports a lot more different drives than cdrkin
does. Not everything that looks simple in a simple program is simple in 
a program like cdrecord that honors complex constraints.....

There are unfortunately several Openrating systems that do not support
the FIFO in cdrecord and the FIFO is needed in order to support -isosize
with pipes. I did have this feature on my radar since a long time but there
have been other more important features with higher priority....

It is a matter of fact that SAO mode gives the best read compatility.
