Well, actively maintained new features may introduce temporary problems but 
this rarely affects other part of the software as well. This happened e.g. last 
year with the SCCS sub-project, but only if you used experimental new parts 
of the featureset.

In general, schilytools offer mature stability and compared to other OSS 
projects, they do not need to fear a comparison with stable variants of theses
other projects.
