To answer the question on how to really make a great coaxial connection that is 
exposed to the weather:

This is the stuff (sealant link below) to place inside your coaxial connectors 
to keep water and moisture out.
It truly works and is recommended in DXE procedures.  Look at their website for 
the details (a pdf file).
It is costly and will last years and you can share it with your friends and 
club members.  Just fill up all of the space inside the connector.
Then clean all of it off the OUTSIDE of the tightened connection. Then wrap the 
finished connection with this Scotch Electrical Splicing 130C tape 
https://a.co/d/enkLUf1 and Scotch Super 33+ electrical tape on the outside.

Also for Type N connectors, too.
