Can you check your `buildbot.tac` for which hostname you're connecting to? It should be `buildbot-api.python.org`; if it's `buildbot.python.org`, it may experience intermittent connection closures instigated by the load-balancer. You can also try setting a shorter `keepalive` (I use 60 on at least some of mine).
