I think the implementation should be able to be overridden by a user. It also needs to integrate with RTEMS error handling/termination. What is in newlib's version that you think is an improvement? I am prone to disable the newlib implementation for RTEMS to avoid conflicts. But if there is something in it which would improve the one in RTEMS, let's discuss that.
