If there is a way, I can't come across it. In a 2014 discussion, looks like Ángel did some deeper research on this: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-wget/2014-04/msg00051.html Maybe he has something else to add?
Is this a known bug, or perhaps I’ve overlooked a wget option that will help here.
You can work around the issue with -nd, which will download all the files in the same directory (will not recreate the directory structure). I've tested it and it correctly downloads the missing image. -- Regards, - AJ
