Hello, The markers for index menus were introduced in 2004. It could be time to assume that for all the Info manuals of relevance, index nodes have the marker. My proposal therefore would be to consider that index nodes are not determined by name only by default by the info reader(s). This would remove the possibility to consider menus to be index menus for manuals in languages where "Index" means something else than what it means in English. I also propose to have a customization variable added for the Info readers added, to be able to go back to the previous behaviour and make possible to find index nodes by name only.
(This complements the mail I just sent about scanning all the nodes to find indices if no indes is found, as it would make less likely the possibility of considering that a node is an index node while it is not, but I think that it would be a good idea independently). -- Pat
