This list is for help with the GNU make program itself; your problem
appears to be compiling (a variation of) the Linux kernel.  You should
contact a mailing list or user forum related to either the Linux kernel
in general or Kali Linux in particular for assistance.

However, just discussing the messages you got, they mean that
the /lib/modules/4.0.0-kali1-amd64 directory doesn't contain a makefile
which knows about the "modules" target.

Is that directory the root of a Linux kernel source directory?  Did you
perform the configuration step in that directory?
