Hello, we got a bug report [1] at Gentoo regarding parallel build of git with make-4.2. It seems to be related to an upstream bug report [2] which was fixed prior of the make-4.2 release. Once that commit [3] is reverted, git can be successfully built again with make-4.2.
It seems like make-4.2 doesn't build any of git's executable files and once "make install" is called it stumbles upon lots of missing files. Kind regards Lars [1] https://bugs.gentoo.org/583812 [2] http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?44742 [3] http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/make.git/patch/?id=9bb994e8319c2b153cd3d6d61e2c2882895e7c3a -- Lars Wendler Gentoo package maintainer GPG: 21CC CF02 4586 0A07 ED93 9F68 498F E765 960E 9B39 Attention!
