It would be really helpful if each page of this documentation reminded the readers of this fact. If they're like me, they typically arrive on those pages from a search engine and checking for differences between versions just doesn't occur to them, the more so because their version may well be the latest offered by their OS distribution, even when it is 3.81. Perhaps it is possible to include some kind of standard header? E.g.
