Summary: Remove also trailing backslash in automatic 'D' variables Project: make Submitted by: raspy Submitted on: Tue 17 Aug 2010 10:43:13 AM GMT Severity: 3 - Normal Item Group: Bug Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Component Version: 3.81 Operating System: MS Windows Fixed Release: None Triage Status: None _______________________________________________________ Details: With the following makefile: %foo: echo $(@D) make responds: $> make obj\foo echo obj\ obj\ $> make obj/foo echo obj obj The documentation states that "the āDā variants all omit the trailing slash which always appears in the output of the dir function." Technically a backslash is not a slash, but the intention here was to remove the trailing path separator. Therefore I recommend that Windows version removes both separators in order to keep the behavior consistent. The issue is also reproducible on 3.82. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?30795> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-make mailing list Bug-make@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-make
