I wasn't suggesting you should autoconfiscate it. I was suggesting the maintainers of the package should. PPP is a bit of a special case because it's been around for so long, it's almost "grandfathered". I suggest you take a look at the PPP makefiles and see if there's not some simpler way to go than reworking it for autoconf: that seems like a huge amount of work. Certainly you shouldn't attempt it, IMO, unless you feel that the PPP maintainers are willing to adopt those changes.
