I think this suggestion is counter to the nature of easter-eggs. An
easter-egg is something the maintainer of a piece of software puts in because
*they* want to. IMO, if Paul thinks it's funny, he should do it. If he
doesn't, or thinks it's a marginal joke, then he should feel free to ignore
what everyone else thinks and not do it. Maintainers carry the burden of
answering questions and digging up fixes when no one else cares; the fringe
benefit is that decisions about easter-eggs should be *solely* theirs to
make.
