This is a problem with your installation of GCC.

It looks like whatever version of GCC you're running is generating
opcodes which the Solaris assembler (/usr/ccs/bin/as) doesn't
understand.

You need to check with the GCC and/or Solaris folks about this; it is
not a problem with GNU make.
