Yuck!  I haven't had any reports like that.  I don't have either of the
above systems, myself, so I'm afraid there's not much help I can give,
at least to start with.

Does GNU make seem to work in general, and it's just the tests that
fail, or is the program actually not working?  E.g., can you use GNU
make to build itself, or other programs on your system?

I just installed perl5.6.0 last night, so I tried it with the test suite
(Solaris 2.5.1 and 2.6) today and it worked fine :-/.
