I've tried to configure my setup this way but it is not succeeding. I see the
.deb files there whilst the sbuild is in progress but they are no longer there

Yes, that saves a lot of network bandwidth :)
It could also alter the file system read-write mix too which might be
significant. I'll try and get this working; I must be doing something silly.
