Yes, being dom0 would be quite involved. And one would need the whole
userland etc. to start the domU etc. so it'll be simpler to just take a
linux image, boot it with a xen hypervisor, and install the xen tools
in it to start the domU.

I'm not sure how it'd be best to get a linux image. Getting a
pre-installed image would probably be quicker than installing it.

As for starting a Xen domU, I have refreshed the documentation:
