Hello.

I recently installed the Hyprland tile-based window manager (not on
Debian GNU/Hurd, of course, but on Linux). From this manager, the qemu-
kvm emulator for running my Hurd image works as well and as fast as
ever for booting the Hurd guest system. However, there's a significant
problem. It seems that due to some quirk of Hyprland, when qemu
captures the mouse, the buttons are usable and responsive, but the
pointer doesn't move. It's stuck in the center of the Debian Hurd
desktop, completely immobile. Again, this isn't due to GNU/Hurd; the
same thing would happen if the guest system were any Linux
distribution, Windows, or anything else.

I'm reaching out to the mailing list in case anyone here has also
worked with Hyprland and knows what I'm talking about and has managed
to solve this problem. Several AIs have told me that switching from
relative mouse emulation (PS/2 or USB mouse) to absolute positioning
(USB tablet) has been reported to solve this problem, but I've tried
several command-line options that start qemu without success. Here's
the shell command I usually use with the GNU/Hurd image:

$ kvm -enable-kvm -M q35 -m 3G -drive file=Hurd.img,cache=writeback -
net nic,model=rtl8139 -net user -vga qxl &

If anyone has any suggestions or comments, I'd be happy to hear them.

Thanks in advance.

Regards.
Jose Luis
