Using lowmem=1  I was then able to install, as Samuel suggested.
The installer did not detect any network card (thus my WLAN card), but I isntalled anyway, hoping to get the tools later.

However, the installed version hangs after "exec" during boot.

I have really bad luck with Hurd (and Grub) lately...
