Hi,
while testing my old HURD box (remember, real hardware, not a VM) I
noticed that I have troubles with my BIOS settings and the RTC.
The preface is that about a year ago, with my old install, I did not
have this behavior.
If I boot into the hurd, the clock settings are gone! The BIOS fails
checksum and I need to reenter all the values.
This happens both if, after boot I just trigger the power-off button or
and even if I do a clean shutdown (which i am able to do if I do not
open any network connection or perform usage: just login, shutdown).
I thought at first that the battery has gone bad, but I changed it.
Also, I tested, that if the clock is set, the settings saved but no boot
is performed, the computer can stay unplugged for days. Thus something
in the boot process disturbs the BIOS!
it is quite annoying, also because it means that the computer can't be
used headless due to the bios checksum error.
