As per [glibc]/hurd/hurdsig.c:write_corefile, that environment variable is only evaluated for ``corelimit != 0''. However, I'm not sure that's the problem in your case, as you get a ``(core dumped)'' message with crash-suspend, according to the log you posted. > In practice what’s the best way to debug a segfault? Good ol' GDB. I'm not up-to-date about upstream and Debian GNU/Hurd GDB's status, when GDB itself is starting the inferior (`run' command). There has been a bug which I reported some moons ago, together with a preliminary patch, but I'm not sure if it was committed. I used to have a working GDB in flubber:~tschwinge/command/gdb, I think. (Attaching to already-running processes should just work with any recent version.) Regards, Thomas
