I've seen such problems too, but could always terminate apt-get with C-c and restart it, without havin the machine crash. Anyway, speaking about it, foobar just crashed again... But this time into the kernel debugger -- won't be of much help nevertheless, as far as I can tell: Kernel General protection trap, eip 0x11cc008 kernel: General protection (13), code=0 Stopped at 0x11cc008: addb %ah,0x486c4946(%esi) db> trace 0x11cc008(0,0,0,0,0) Seems like total junk to me.
