I just tried myself, and it reboots after a screenful of output talking about GNU Mach 1.91, and a kernel panic, did you see that as well? Anyway, if I add '--' at the end of the above quoted GRUB kernel line (see http://hurd.gnufans.org/bin/view/Mach/OskitMach#Starting), it boots fine until the login prompt (where I cannot use the keyboard either).
