If the list would filter it, it would throw it away and the poster would wonder why it didn't arrive on the list.
If the mailing list software only marks mail then I doubt anyone will have a problem. That way people can filter out all mail that has a "X-spam: Yes" header if they want to. No. It is a pity that there aren't many Hurd users, but putting restrictions on mailing lists will make sure that people who want to try might stay away. We don't want that. Of course receiving lots of spam may have the same effect, so it's a bit of a dilemma. I don't see any dilemma, disabling useful feature because someone doesn't like them or abuses them is stupid. > The only way to keep a mailing list "open" without spam is by > having one or more human beings moderating messages. Very true. If there would be enough people to do this, I think it would be useful. We probably need 5-10 people or something, to make sure messages don't have to wait more than a few hours. Also a stupid idea, it puts extra work on people for no reason what so ever; work that could be better spent on code, doc fixes, feature requests, whatever. Finally, to Alfred: Please be a little more gentle with people. If you start shouting at them, telling them they're stupid, etc, they might think we're all a bunch of antisocial people and run away. I don't want that, and I'm sure you don't either. I was infact gentle. I wasn't shouting, nor telling them that they are stupid. Where did you get those ideas from? I was calling the _ideas_ stupid. _______________________________________________ Bug-hurd mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-hurd
