Just to be sure that you won't reinstall everything: use dpkg-hurd found in root directory. It's intended to be used under Linux. You just have to get the hurd package from somewhere, e.g. var/cache/apt/archive, or some Debian mirror, or CD.
I'll give it a shot, but I'm none to bright.. :-(
