Why is there a bunch of spam in my mailing-list digest? Because someone sends spam to the mailing-list? :-)
Now to be a bit serious. The reason why the digest version has spam is because it is not filtered in anyway, what you see is what everyone else gets in their mailbox; spam and all. To my knowledge no spam filters are running on bug-hurd/help-hurd, so thats your reason for the nice level of chewy spam.
