This is a trivial thing, but to try to get back into the swing of things I did something very easy. /hurd/magic now supports multiple filesystems and the delegation protocol (fsys_forward). What this means is there can be just one process on the machine to handle both /dev/tty and /dev/fd. This will Just Work if you do settrans -c /servers/magic /hurd/magic, and that should become part of the standard /servers setup.
