Personally, I intend on using this in conjunction with a transdir translator to store my apache logs. Transdir[1] will be a stripped down hostmux, that doesn't mux anything. So I'll do this settrans /var/log/apache /hurd/transdir /hurd/filemux --date="%Y-%W" /home/jim/apache '${file}' This will store my apache logs in /home/jim/apache, and /var/log/apache will just be a reference to this weeks logs. Now if I can figure out a way to add transparent gunzip to filemux, I will have found a way to replace all the things I know logrotate does with translators that do the job better and more accurately. [1] If anyone has a better name for this idea, I would be happy to here it. ===== James Morrison University of Waterloo Computer Science - Digital Hardware 2A co-op http://hurd.dyndns.org Anyone refering this as 'Open Source' shall be eaten by a GNU __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
